The Story
Vecindad is a coffee built through collaboration. Sourced through our partners at Gold Mountain Coffee Growers, this lot brings together coffees from neighboring producers across the Matagalpa and Jinotego regions of Nicaragua.
Each of these farms produces a small amount of natural-processed coffee — not enough on its own to form a single exportable lot. Rather than letting those coffees go unnoticed, they’re carefully combined, creating a profile that reflects the shared work and collective effort of the community.
It’s a thoughtful approach that allows smaller producers to participate in the specialty market while producing something truly distinctive in the cup.rom the fruit to concentrate into the seed, building both sweetness and body.
The Process
Each contributing farm harvests ripe coffee cherry and processes it as a natural, drying the fruit intact on raised beds. This slow drying allows sugars from the fruit to concentrate into the seed, building both sweetness and body.
Once dried and prepared, the coffees are blended at origin with intention — preserving quality while creating a balanced, expressive final lot.
In the Cup
Vecindad is fruit-forward and inviting, with a profile that feels both vibrant and composed.
Expect pineapple up front — bright, tropical, and lively — followed by a soft, rounded sweetness of raw sugar and honey. The cup carries a full, silky body, offering depth without heaviness and a finish that lingers just long enough to bring you back for another sip.
It’s a coffee that feels layered without being overwhelming — it's both approachable and drinkable, but still interesting.
Why We Love It
This is the kind of coffee that reminds us how much potential exists in thoughtful sourcing. By bringing together smaller lots with care, Vecindad delivers a profile that’s both dynamic and easy to enjoy.
It’s equally at home as a daily drinker or something you slow down with — a balance we’re always looking for.
Vecindad is a reflection of shared work at origin - and a reminder that great coffee doesn't always come from a single place but from people working collectively for something beautiful together.
Gold Mountain Coffee Growers is a social enterprise that, in addition to its own farm (Finca Idealista), works directly with coffee producers in Nicaragua, including Guadalupe, to connect them with roasters abroad. GMCG is on the ground, all the time, teaming up with producers willing to take the steps necessary (and whose altitude and soil conditions allow them) to produce high-cupping specialty coffee. We literally stand on every partner farm during picking to ensure ripeness with refractometers and ripeness bracelets. GMCG also carries out sustainable development projects in communities, such as free computing classes for girls from coffee communities, medical assistance, microcredit, running water in schools, and educational supplies.
