A Story That Grounds the Cup
Yesenia took over her family's farm, El Miraflor, after the devastating loss of her husband, Manuel, during the pandemic. With a legacy rooted in vegetable farming and a vision for a better future, Yesenia now manages the farm, workers, and her household, all while raising her children—who continue to feel the deep absence of their father.
Despite the hardship, she has carried forward their shared dream, producing award-winning coffee on her land. This microlot reflects that journey: one of heartbreak, hope, and unwavering dedication to her family and craft.
Cup Experience
This fully washed microlot, fermented for just over 18 hours, offers a cup that’s both elegant and emotionally resonant. Notes of blueberry, prune, and dried date unfold over a silky, structured body, making each sip feel generous and comforting. It's a coffee you linger over—both for its flavor and the story it carries.
About Gold Mountain Coffee Growers
Gold Mountain Coffee Growers is a social enterprise that, in addition to its own farm (Finca Idealista), works directly with coffee producers in Nicaragua, including Guadalupe, to connect them with roasters abroad. GMCG is on the ground, all the time, teaming up with producers willing to take the steps necessary (and whose altitude and soil conditions allow them) to produce high-cupping specialty coffee. We literally stand on every partner farm during picking to ensure ripeness with refractometers and ripeness bracelets. GMCG also carries out sustainable development projects in communities, such as free computing classes for girls from coffee communities, medical assistance, microcredit, running water in schools, and educational supplies.
