This exceptional microlot from Doña Luz Mila Gonzales is a beautifully structured honey-processed Caturra grown at 1,700–1,800 meters in the volcanic soils of Gaitania, Tolima. With a cup score of 87.75, this offering highlights the bright, sweet, and layered character that has earned Luz Mila a place among Colombia’s most promising smallholder producers.
A Cup Rooted in Passion & Patience
Doña Luz Mila is a first-generation coffee farmer whose dream of living close to the land led her from Colombia’s cities to the remote hills of Tolima. With the support of her husband and local coffee-growing community, she transformed El Oasis, a 10-hectare farm nestled in the mountains, into a thriving source of exceptional coffees—and a model of organic practices and sustainability.
This lot was produced using strict ripeness selection, followed by 35 hours of dry fermentation before drying on raised beds for 11 days. The result is a silky-sweet, fruit-forward cup with notes of nectarine, molasses, and mandarin, rounded out by a soft, caramel-chocolate finish.
